4. masks - everything has to change
12 parting ways/meetings - never good at letting go
Kira Izuru hated rain, and especially to be outside, when it rained heavily, like now.
You may wonder, why a man then stood outside on a bridge in a small park, and not in the small
pavilion nearby.
That was because Kira had a date. No, not with his lover or something like that, but with a good friend.
Hisagi had said he wanted to meet him in the evening, so now Kira waited, where he waited everytime they met.
While feeling the rain soak his uniform he let the day be replayed in his head.
After having woken up around midday and reading the note, he enjoyed the breakfast Hisagi had set up and then cleaned up the dishes and the bed.
After that he had left a note saying: „Usual place, usual time.“
Then he had went to the building of the third Divisition, because he wanted to check up on everything. Although Hisagi had said, he'd make sure Kira got a day off, he wanted to see if everything was allright or if he needed to start working today.
He had spend about two hours there and then went home, aired his flat and took a long, hot bath, one of the things he had longed for, on his journey.
Drowning in the hot water his thoughts had started wandering around and soon ended up, where they did everytime: At a certain blackhaired Shinigami with a more then ambiguous tattoo on his cheek.
You may be able to imagine how it ended up, and now standing in the rain Kira felt his cheeks turn a light shade of purple thinking about it.
After this...arousing bath he had spent the rest of the day lazy in his flat or on his small balcony enjoying the warm sun.
But of coure the moment he left his flat to meet with Hisagi and had half the way done the rain started to pour down. He hadn't had enough time to go back and fetch an umbrella, he had thought, and hoped Hisagi would appear soon, so they could go somewhere else.
Hisagi hadn't appeared up until now, which was about an hour after the usual time, and Kira was soaked, cold and depressed.
Rain always depressed him. Everything was gray, and wet, and cold, noone was outside and it felt as if you were all alone. Another problem was the force of water. It could easyly wash away everything...including well build up protections like walls...and masks.
And that was, what Kira feared most. Having his maskes washed away so he had to face the world with his emotions bared.
In the distance Kira could hear a bell ring to indicate what time it was.
He had waited for one and a half hour by now and he wondered if Hisagi would ever appear. Maybe the rain had washed him away, like the masks that had covered his face to hide the feelings for the other man.
Or maybe he had been washed away and Hisagi was waiting at the bridge and wondered where he had went.
Lost in those thought he didn't really noticed that the rain seemed to stop and person was busy rubbing something over his head.
But after a few moments a voice reached his eyes: „Kira-kun...What are you still doing here? You should have gone home when I didn't came.“
It took hime some time to realize who talked to him and his eyes widened in disbelief as he turned around to see Hisagi, an umbrella in his one hand and a towel in the other one, currently busy with drying him.
„Didn't the rain wash you away?“, Kira asked slowly, still caught in his earlyer thoughts.
Hisagi shook his head, knowing how the other one got, while it was raining: „No, the rain didn't wash me away. It had to meet a certain someone, didn't I?“
He smiled gently and added: „but before we really are washed away let's go inside. You're all cold. Here, take this for a moment.“
Then he handed the umbrella to Kira and started removing his black Kimono and handing it over too.
Kira just gave him a questioning look. „And what am I supposed to do now?“
Hisagi had to bite back a laugh. „You are supposed to get out of your Kimono, they're soaked and I don't want you to catch a cold.“
Slowly Kira undressed, feeling himself blush because...well...he undressed himself in front of the one he had a crush on. And he felt Hisagi watch his every movement.
After having slipped into Hisagis Kimono he smiled faintly at Hisagi.
„So where to we go now?“
Hisagi thought about it for a second, but started to walk to the entrance of the park. „What about we go to my flat? It's closer than yours.“
Kira nodded, smiling and still blushing a bit, because he was now walking to Hisagis flat, and he knew the other man well enough to know that Hisagi would insist he'd take a shower.
The walked in silence and Kira looked around and saw the rain with different eyes. He saw, how the water washed away the stains on the white walls around him, it washed away the dirt and cleaned the air, making it easier to breath. Maybe that was also because he inhaled Hisagis scent with every intake of breath. The Kimono felt just wonderful on his skin.
Kira smiled and looked around, a warm smile covering his face and Hisagi felt relieved when he saw that Kira wasn't depressed anymore.
When they entered Hisagis flat Kira quickly removed his shoes and socks while Hisagi took more time doing so and beforehand set the umbrella outside against the wall and closed the door.
He frowned lightly, when Kira asked: „Why didn't you come earlier?“
He didn't sound accusingly, but Hisagi felt the stinging feeling in his chest, because just yesterday Kira had been late for about 3 days...
He turned around to face the other man, a somewhat sad look covering his face.
„There was a lot to do today, so I just came home half an hour ago. When I found your message I quickly took the umbrella and went looking for you.“
Kira now saw the tired look on Hisagis face, not only from the days work, but also from the past days and nights, he had spend with few or no sleep.
Quickly he approached the other one...hesitated to embrace him. Instead he just stood there, no more then a few centimeters seperating him.
„I'm sorry.“, Kira said, feeling down again. „I'm sorry you had such a hard time because of me.“
Hisagi gulped a few time and had some difficulties to hold his hands close to himself. He wanted to touch Kira, wanted to feel the other one close to him. He could already feel Kiras breath on the skin of his neck, due to the closeness of their bodys and the difference in height.
Slowly, hesitantly Hisagi lifted his hand and placed it on Kiras cheek, which made the other man flinch and look up at Hisagi, who felt his heart stop that very second, feeling Kira trying to back away. But he also couldn't see the other man as sad as he currently looked, so he smiled at him faintly and said: „Don't worry about that. I can stand a little stress. But now you should go take a hot shower, you're all cold. I'll go prepare some tea.“
Kira nodded. He didn't know what he had waited for, but definately not for such a gentle touch. Slowly, relucantly, he drew away and went to Hisagis bathroom. He removed his clothes and placed them on the floor. Then he went into the shower and closed the door behind him. Shutting everything else out and enjoying the feeling of the hot water, pouring down on his naked skin like the rain earlier had.
Just moments later the door to the bathroom opened again. Kira stood with his back to the door, so he didn't notice that Hisagi entered to place a dry set of clothes in the bathroom. And Kira also didn't notice the somewhat longing expression, when Hisagi stood there in the door for a few extra seconds, watching the other one through the frosted glass of the shower door. Just able to the the outlines of the others body. Then he went into the kitchen and was busy preparing tea.
When Kira joined Hisagi there, dressed in a dry pair of clothes he smiled and took the cup the other one handed him.
Maybe rain wasn't that bad at all.
